PDF-to-Word conversion has a reputation for mangling formatting. It doesn't have to be that way.
1. Understand what converts cleanly
- Native PDFs (from Word, Google Docs) convert well.
- Scanned PDFs need OCR before they become editable text.
- Complex layouts will need manual cleanup after conversion.
2. Convert PDF to Word
- Open ClarixPDF's convert tool at clarixpdf.com/convert and select PDF to Word.
- Upload your file. Enable OCR if it's a scan.
- Download the .docx and open it in Word or Google Docs.
3. Clean up the converted document
Check that headings use proper styles, look for stray page breaks, and re-check tables for any cells that shifted during conversion.
4. Converting back to PDF
Export directly from Word or use ClarixPDF's Word to PDF tool. Open the result and verify fonts embedded correctly.
